These pieces are representative of Don’s work in porcelain from the late 1980’s through 2007. The Tripod Vase and Pedestal Bowl are representative of Don’s porcelain work made from the late 1980’s and mostly gas fired in light reduction to cone 7. During the SACI residency in Florence, Italy in 2005 he was able to research and experiment with terracotta forms fired at 1000 degrees centigrade; approximately cone 04. A good deal of success was achieved during that residency in the transition from high temp porcelain to low temp terracotta as evidenced by “Muse Basket: Luce” made during that time.
